Writings

Jim Gilbert has contributed to All Seasons' member newsletter "Bird's Eye View" for nearly a decade.  A favorite of our readers, his information tracks the movements of the prior year, so you can compare current arrivals and look ahead to plan on nestbox cleaning, when to prepare your hummingbird feeders, etc.

The Executive Director of the Linnaeus Arboretum and naturalist at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota, Jim is also the author of Jim Gilbert's Nature Notebook, and Through Minnesota's Seasons with Jim Gilbert. Jim and his network of observers across Minnesota and western Wisconsin keep track of Phenology events. Jim has been associated with the Freshwater Society and has provided the phenology information for the Minnesota Weatherguide Environment Calendar since 1977

NEWS:  Jim Gilbert will be at three of our local Twin Cities stores autographing his new book, "Nature Notes" (and of course the Weatherguides).  "Nature Notes" is a fabulous 304-pg. book capturing all the natural beauty we enjoy here in Minnesota and would make the perfect holiday gift.  Written in a week-by-week chronology, Jim follows the seasons from spring woodland flowers to the migration of Tundra and Trumpeter Swans in the fall.  The book includes 150 beautiful photos.
