We've offered regular "made in Minnesota" suet logs before, now our woodworker is exploring new more artistic versions. These fun and whimsical "funky" suet logs are a great addition to your feeding station. Chickadees, nuthatches, and woodpeckers of all sizes and varities flock to these logs. They're easy for them to cling to and easy for you to fill.
We offer the logs with holes drilled all the way through because the half-drilled logs just empty too quickly! To fill these, you'll want to keep your suet plugs inside (so they don't freeze). Break the suet plug in half, smoosh it together a bit, and stuff into the openings. If you just slide the suet plug into the opening, the pressure of the birds pecking at it will push it out.
Set up a baffle on the log's feeder system if you're going to use roasted peanut plugs. But squirrels don't find the all-natural plugs as appealing, so you may want to consider using them with the logs. (birds love them though).
Constructed of cedar, each log is unique in its design. Some have a bark remaining, some are stripped. All of them have a natural beauty that perfectly lends itself to wild bird feeding. And... what a Great gift they make!
NOTE: Wow, these sold fast! We're in the process of adding more to our online store. They'll be online by Dec. 14th, or if you want to learn about what we have and order via phone, just call Tami at 866.722.4737.
