Cedar Wood Duck House by Woodlink

Wood ducks are cavity nesters and with so many manicured parks and suburban spaces, they're losing their "dead wood" cavities.  You can help supply them with nesting sites, and encourage them to stay around all summer, by offering multiple wood duck houses.  The wood duck hen will visit multiple choices before laying her eggs in one box.  Having more than one house also helps alleviate the problem of an early-laying hen being evicted by another hen.

This model by Woodlink set the industry standard several years ago and remains a top-seller.  There are even wood chips included to use as a base nesting material.  The inside of the house even has a tiny ladder in it to help the ducklings climb from their nest to the 3.75”L x 3”W opening.

Woodlink has researched successful wood duck house construction and the 14.5”L x 10.75”W x 23”H house is the perfect depth to keep mother duck safe from raccoons and other predators.  Even with the four inches of nesting material in the bottom, the raccoon's arm still will not be able to reach the duck family.  This is especially important in the midwest where raccoons are a common wood duck nest predator.

Mounting instructions are included; in general the house should be mounted 10'-20' above the ground overlooking or as near to water as possible.
